The following letter was received from Thandiwe Mncina – the winner of the R150,000 Education Bursary sponsored by the Gingerbread Foundation. Thandy is currently a first year Bachelor of Arts student at the University of the Free State.

Hello John.

We are on holidays now, and am back at the Inkomazi working with the drama team as my community service for two weeks. School is wonderful, I love and enjoy all my classes. I have passed all my tests for this term and am planning on working harder in the next term. I  was in the first years drama and I enjoy it a lot. My hostel did not win, but after all we had a lot of fun and that's what matters. I play netball and soccer for my hostel also and before we had holidays I went to audition for kleinsier which is only music and I got selected, which means I will be doing a lot of practices & studying when I get back, and please don't worry, am able to manange my time meaning education comes first.
