In an agreement which became effective on 1st April 2008, the Nkomazi Community Trust acquired a minority shareholding in Aqua Engineering Africa (Pty) Ltd. Under the terms of this agreement, the Trust has acquired 25% of the issued share capital of Aqua Engineering Africa, and will receive monthly donations from the company in support of beneficiaries of the Trust and the development of the enterprise.

Aqua Engineering Africa (Pty) Ltd. is a specialist water treatment company which designs, installs, operates and maintains water and wastewater treatment plants throughout South Africa utilising the very best technologies available. The company is a subsidiary of Aqua Engineering SA (Pty) Ltd which has been operating in South Africa for over 16 years and is a wholly-owned division of the internationally known Aqua Engineering GmbH.
