EVENT 4: Launch of the Gingerbread Foundation

On the 1st June 2007, South Africa’s premier restaurant franchise group - Mugg & Bean - officially launched the Gingerbread Foundation, an in-house charity fund dedicated to supporting worthwhile community projects, and nominated the Nkomazi Community Trust as its principle beneficiary. Through an innovative marketing strategy, Mugg & Bean has linked its new customer loyalty programme with the Gingerbread Foundation. Under the banner of “Feel Good Coffee” Mugg & Bean customers can now participate in a reward programme that makes a meaningful contribution to the lives of thousands of needy children. Every time the Gingerbread Foundation Rewards Card is swiped, the customer accumulates “MuggBucks” and a portion of the bill goes to support thousands of orphaned and vulnerable children in the Nkomazi region of Mpumalanga.
